Coordinator of the Elliot Program for Master of Healthcare Design Sara Bayramzadeh, Ph.D. has been awarded the New Faculty Outstanding Research and Scholarship Award by 蹤獲扦 State. This award is recognition for the hard work and dedication of faculty who have been at 蹤獲扦 State for 10 years or less and are sponsored by the University Research Council.
Dr. Bayramzadehs research project is titled Toward a Model of Safety and Care for Trauma Room Design. The focus of her research is to improve patient safety through the redesign of level-one trauma rooms. This project is one of the largest federally funded research projects in the field of healthcare design, interior design, and architecture nationally. Dr. Bayramzadeh and her team of collaborators at 蹤獲扦 State and Cleveland Clinic Akron General have been awarded $2.4 million over a span of four years to create a safer area for patients to recover from trauma and a more efficient environment for medical staff.
Next semester, she will be involved with a design studio for the MHD students at the CAED that will focus on the design of trauma rooms. It will involve design thinking sessions, presentations of these findings and mock-ups of trauma room designs. These design mock-ups will then be used as proposals for future trauma rooms.
