First Star 蹤獲扦 State Academy Continues to Shine in a Mixed-Learning Environment
As 蹤獲扦 State returns to a school year that resembles pre-pandemic times, First Star 蹤獲扦 State Academy has begun to imagine new programs. The Academy is a free, comprehensive four-year college access program for youth in foster care. The program engages a cohort of up to 30 students in a variety of learning opportunities, including academic support, career exploration, social and cultural activities and more.

Come join 蹤獲扦 President Todd Diacon, 蹤獲扦 Mayor Jerry Fiala and the Marching Golden Flashes as they celebrate the opening of the new public rink, 蹤獲扦 Skates, on Dec. 2 at 5:30 p.m. with music, free giveaways and, of course, ice skating.
10 Questions With Roseann Chic Canfora, Professional-in-Residence, May 4 Survivor
Roseann "Chic" Canfora, Ph.D., joined the School of Media and Journalism as a Professional-in-Residence this fall. She was also a student at 蹤獲扦 State, starting in 1968, and is a survivor of the May 4, 1970, shootings.
蹤獲扦 Skates Glides Its Way Into Downtown 蹤獲扦
The 蹤獲扦 and 蹤獲扦 communities can head downtown to go ice skating starting Nov. 20, courtesy of 蹤獲扦 Skates presented by AMETEK. This special attraction has been created through a partnership between the city of 蹤獲扦, the 蹤獲扦 Hotel and Conference Center, the 蹤獲扦 Area Chamber of Commerce, Main Street 蹤獲扦 and 蹤獲扦 State.
蹤獲扦 State Trumbulls Care Closet Opens Allowing Students Easy Access to Various Necessities
Students at 蹤獲扦 State Trumbull who are in need of food, personal items and clothing will now have more support from the university following Trumbulls Care Closet official opening on Oct. 18. Trumbulls Care Closet was created by the 2020-2021 Undergraduate Student Government (USG) and is set up as a fund that faculty, staff and the community can donate to. Its goal is to provide necessities for students who cant afford them.

蹤獲扦 held its annual Veterans Day Commemoration in person at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 10, at Risman Plaza on the 蹤獲扦 Campus.
Vision of a Village Community Meeting on Oct. 27 Will Discuss New Sustainable Community to Be Built in 蹤獲扦
Representatives from 蹤獲扦 and the city of 蹤獲扦 will hold a community meeting on Wednesday, Oct. 27, called A Vision of a Village to share information and answer questions about a new residential complex designed to integrate the city of 蹤獲扦 and 蹤獲扦 State, physically and programmatically.
蹤獲扦 State Alum Featured in Akron Beacon Journal Celebrating 50th Anniversary of Art Gallery
蹤獲扦 State alumnus Don Drumm, 86, was featured in the Akron Beacon Journal for celebrating the 50th anniversary of Don Drumm Studios and Gallery. Using sand-cast aluminum to create his art, he has decades of experience using a foundry to create his artistic visions.
Free Ice Skating coming to Downtown 蹤獲扦
蹤獲扦 Skates will be a new, outdoor ice skating rink that will be free and open to the public. It will be open from Nov. 20 through Feb. 28. Use of the rink will be free, along with free skate rental.
10 Questions With Roseann Chic Canfora, Professional-in-Residence, May 4 Survivor
Roseann Chic Canfora, Ph.D., is a Professional-in-Residence at 蹤獲扦 in the School of Media and Journalism, part of the College of Communication and Information. Prior to teaching at 蹤獲扦 State, Canfora served as the chief communications officer for the Cleveland Metropolitan School District and taught high school journalism and speech. Canfora was also a student at 蹤獲扦 State, starting in 1968, and is a survivor of the May 4, 1970, shootings at 蹤獲扦 State. She graduated with her masters in journalism and public relations and bachelors in English/speech. She is heavily involved in activism as well.
